A Brief History

From its initial launch on October 17, 2011 to its unfortunate shutdown in August 2015, Arcadia Minecraft held high standards in every aspect of the game. Directed by experienced and well-rounded staff, Arcadia emanated true quality and a super-fun gaming environment. With the help of uber-creative Architects, top-notch Engineers, and the entire Arcadia community as a whole, Arcadia quickly grew to become one of the premiere survival Minecraft servers of the 2010s.

The Return of Arcadia

Now, in 2020, Arcadia Minecraft has returned with great ambitions and high hopes for the same success we saw last decade! Alex Penner (Llamasquishy or simply “Llama”), the original Founder of Arcadia Minecraft, laid off from work due to COVID-19 with nothing to do, came up with the idea to restart Arcadia Minecraft and return it to its former glory.

To provide a reliable and safe place for passionate gamers to mine, build, and grow as a community.

The Plan

We’ve rebuilt Arcadia from the ground up. With nearly 5 years of updates since the last known Arcadia Survival map, this was the logical choice. This means that we have a brand new survival map, generated on May 18, 2020, running the (almost) latest Minecraft Release 1.16.5 for you to have your way with. On launch day, we ran the bare minimum (Essentials, Chest Protections, Grief Prevention, etc.), but have since added many useful plugins such as ones that allow players to collect rewards for voting for us on numerous websites!

The Future of Arcadia

From Llama: “I don’t know what the future holds for Arcadia, but I desperately want it to continue. Arcadians have always held a special place in my heart and I’ve always longed to return. It was only now that I was given a reason to do so (COVID-19). Minecraft is a game that will be around for a very, very long time. I would love for Arcadia to continue to grow indefinitely. That said, I won’t be able to do it alone. Over time, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for players who show extraordinary talent and an evident desire to help the server grow. From there, I will begin taking on some staff members for specific roles to help ease my workload so that I can focus on the big picture. Feel free to let me know if you might be interested in a future staff role.”

Donations

For many game servers, “Donations” is a sore subject. People see that word and think “pay-to-win”. I promise that Arcadia Minecraft: SMP will not go that route. Ever! Donators and Patrons will be provided with some useful commands in-game, but nothing game-breaking. Basically, the same as the old Arcadia Donator perks, plus a few things like exclusive polls to help determine the direction of the server. Don’t worry, you’re not going to see Donators flying all over the place…except with their legitimately acquired Elytras!
